Starrett
The Starrett 1-2" American Pride Outside Micrometer is a precision measuring tool built for reloaders, gunsmiths, and toolmakers who need repeatable accuracy down to ten-thousandths of an inch. Whether you're verifying case dimensions, measuring bullet diameters, or checking machined parts during firearm assembly, this outside micrometer delivers the resolution and durability that demanding bench work requires. It's the kind of tool that earns its place in a serious workshop—one measurement at a time.
Built with a hardened steel spindle and anvil, the American Pride is designed to handle years of regular use without losing its edge or accuracy. The satin chrome finish on the scale cuts glare, making readings quick and unambiguous even under workshop lighting. A friction thimble or ratchet stop ensures you apply consistent measuring pressure, eliminating guesswork and the creep that kills precision on less robust instruments.
Starrett's reputation in metrology isn't accidental—they've been making measuring instruments since the 1800s. This micrometer reflects that heritage: it's straightforward, legible, and built to maintain its accuracy over thousands of measurements. If you reload ammunition, do gunsmith work, or machine firearm components, the 1-2" range covers the bulk of the small dimensions you'll encounter, from case necks to bore measurements.
| Brand | Starrett |
| Product Type | Outside Micrometer |
| Measurement Range | 0 to 1 inch |
| Resolution | 0.0001 inches |
| Spindle & Anvil Material | Hardened steel |
| Scale Finish | Satin chrome |
| Adjustment | Friction thimble or ratchet stop |
This model measures from 0 to 1 inch, making it suitable for verifying case neck diameters, bullet diameters, bore measurements, and other small firearm components. You'll need a different size micrometer (like a 2-3") if you're measuring larger parts.
It reads to 0.0001 inches—one ten-thousandth of an inch. That level of resolution is essential for reloading and gunsmithing, where tight tolerances matter. The hardened steel construction and friction stop help you maintain that accuracy shot after shot.
Yes. Reloaders use outside micrometers like this to measure case neck thickness, bullet diameters, and other critical dimensions that affect consistency and safety. The 1-inch range covers the most common reloading measurements.
The satin finish reduces glare and reflections under workshop lighting, making the scale markings easier to read clearly. This supports faster, more accurate measurements without eye strain.
